1. Indian Museum in Kolkata- West Bengal

First and foremost on this list is the Indian Museum in Kolkata, which is the largest and the oldest museum in India. This museum is popular for its fossils, remains, artifacts, paintings, etc.

2. Shivalik Fossil Park Museum in Sirmour- Himachal Pradesh

Shivalik Fossil Park Museum is among the most eminent museums as it has an excellent collection of fossils and lifesize models of various extinct mammals and other animals that are made of resins and fiberglass.

Animal skeletons of prehistoric animals are also displayed here because these animals were mostly native to Shivaliks and their remains were later collected by the museum authority. This ancient collection has made the museum a tourist spot which must not be missed,

4. Rail Museum in Delhi

Another different and unique museum, Rail Museum in Delhi focuses on the rail heritage of India. It shows the collections of trains and presents the various phases of Indian Rail history from Fairy Queen Engine to Fire Engine. The Island Museum in Nagarjunakonda has been designed in the shape of a Buddhist Vihara. This eminent museum depicts the culture and remnants of Buddhism. There is an old belief that in the museum, there is a tooth and an earring that belongs to the God Gautam Buddha only.
