Day 3- The Return
It was time for us to return from royalty to commoners’ lives today. Breakfast was in the form of pooris (yum!), sabzi, bread, boiled eggs, and other related items. Jaipur Sightseeing After loading ourselves and completing the checkout process, we were ready to hit the road by 10 a.m. We headed over to Rawat Mishtan Bhandar which was just a few minutes away from us, on Station Road. The plan was to pick up a few breakfast items and sweets for home, but it’s hard not to be tempted to eat again. Fortunately we were already stuffed and did not succumb to pressure from the aromas.
From here, we went over to the beautiful Patrika Gate, about which we had seen in so many Vlogs. The architecture of the gate is truly magnificent, and we saw celebrations with respect to International Women’s Day taking place on the outside. A couple of pre-wedding celebrations were taking place within the premises. Entry to the gate is free.
The structure of the gate has been created using pink sandstone and its walls, ceilings, and archways were painted in beautiful pastel colors. At the backside of the gate is a small complex for parking, which also has a paid washroom. The word “Rajasthan” has been made to stand on the ground, prompting many individuals to take pictures. With the final attraction done, we were ready to depart towards Delhi at 12:30 p.m.
Most of the journey on the way back was smooth, but we encountered a major traffic journey a little before Rewari (Haryana). Many vehicles took to the left to use the service road, but even that got blocked after a while. Soon, a person driving a tractor on the wrong side suggested we take the road through the village close to us. I didn’t need a second invitation and decided to explore new territory, thinking that Google Maps would somehow link us back to the main road. This did bother my wife for some distance, with several trucks around us as well. Some cars were following us inside, but they gave up mid-way. We decided to continue ahead as per instinct and managed to come back to the main road after a 10 km sojourn. The Delhi border was breached from the Gurgaon side in the next 1.5 hours, and we reached home by 6 p.m.
