Manipur a ‘Jewel of India’

North-Eastern India is a prime tourist attraction of the whole country and Manipur is one of the places from it. Today, it is a peaceful region with amazing locations, environmental advantages, and a friendly population.

For this reason, Manipur is known as the Jewel of India. This small Northeast Indian state is popular for its beauty, natural spectacles, culture, and environment. Apart from it, Manipur is known for its oval-shaped valley and dark, thick, and green forest. The entire state is also covered with ice-covered hills and dotting landscapes and receives snowfall during the winter months.

These are only a few reasons to visit Manipur, but the complete list is too long to be put in words. However, there are some particular reasons behind naming the state ‘Jewel of India’ listed below.

1. Population of Manipur

The state population comprises a tribal population. Their behavior and living patterns also display their customs. Manipur is known for the ‘Meitei Nagas An Kui-Chin-Mizo’ tribes. Along with it, Muslims and Gorkhas also stay there in large numbers. The domestic people of Manipur have a rich and diverse culture that abounds in stories where they celebrate music and dance.

The people of Manipur are very creative. They make their own art and craft and their handcrafted handlooms and other designs are unique and beautiful. Tourists like their designs and appreciate their work.

2. Dzukou Valley

If you are visiting Manipur, then you must visit the famous Dzukou Valley. Your trip will be incomplete without visiting this valley. This place is like a dreamland, often regarded as the most amazing and natural valley in India. This place is basically based in Nagaland as it lies on the border between the two states.

It is a great spot and a marvelous location for those who seek peace in their life. It is a perfect habitat for those people who want to meditate or pray. Apart from it, the surrounding mountains and pure air is a treat for a nature lover. Here, you will find a scarce flower, Dzuko Lily.

Mount Iso, the highest peak in Manipur, is also located here. In the winter season, the valley experiences snowfall. That’s why tourists visit the place in the winter season to see the beauty of snow and capture memories.

3. Khwairamband Bazar/Ima Market

Khwairamband Bazar is the best for the women of Imas (mother in Manipur dialect) because women have permission to run stalls here. Travelers come here to shop and bargain for the handicrafts and handlooms.

4. Manipur Zoological Garden

Manipur Zoological Garden is popular for dancing deer. Tourists come here to see the unique dance of the deer. It is the specialty of the place.

5. Churachandpur

Churachandpur is a short tribal town and it is located at an hour’s distance from Imphal. This place has the charm and ability to make people fall in love. Whosoever comes here starts loving this place. Tourists love buying handicraft items, talking to locals, and doing other things to spice up their trip. This place is very good for a picnic or for a few day’s leisure.

Other than these things, Manipur is known for its surroundings, blooming flowers, flora and fauna, crystal clear rivers, and clean and transparent water running through the landscapes. No wonder it is tagged as the ‘Jewel of India’- a label it richly deserves.
