Fatehsagar Lake is the pride of all lakes in Udaipur and is located in the heart of the city. The lake is a majestic gem of Udaipur. Not only tourists but even locals visit the lake daily. Nothing is more peaceful and relaxing than sitting in front of the lake and watching the water tides rippling. In other words, a visit to the beautiful city of Udaipur is simply incomplete without visiting Fateh Sagar Lake Udaipur.

History of Fatehsagar Lake

The Fateh Sagar Lake has always been known for its beauty and scenic views. Formerly, it was built by Maharana Jai Singh in 1678. However, heavy rains destroyed the lake after two hundred years. Then in 1888, this lake was reconstructed by Maharana Fateh Singh. It is located in the Northwest part of Udaipur city and is spread across an area of 2.4 km.

Things to do at Lake Fatehsagar

This lake is widely spread around Nehru Garden which sits in the middle of the lake. This lake is a bucket of adventures. Here, you can participate in various activities such as

 

1. Watching Sunset and Sunrise Views

The view of the sunset and sunrise at Fateh Sagar Lake is simply breathtaking. Taking an evening walk on the ground is similar to walking in heaven. Apart from that, the maintenance of this place is so wonderful that it gives a sense of purity and wellness.

2. Sip Hot or Cold Coffee

This task must be in the first place on your to-do list. The experience of drinking killed coffee against the tides is peaceful and refreshing. You can enjoy the view while sipping the coffee and see the serene lake blend well with the ripples. It is an admirable and cheerful sight to capture.

3. Take a Boat Ride

You can take a boat ride to explore the lake as it looks even more beautiful in this way. This is invariably a favorite activity for every tourist who comes to this well-maintained lake. You can be assured that all safety measures are taken for the boat ride.

4. Visit Three Islands

Fateh Sagar Lake has three tiny islands that are open for tourists to visit. Nehru Garden is the largest island. It is lush green gardens that offer undivided peace and serene surroundings to relax.  There is a small zoo on this island that comprises many rare species of birds and animals.

The second island is a public park that is known for its fun activities and the jet water mountain which is enlightened in the evening. Apart from these, the third island is a boat-shaped restaurant that displays water fountains and huge palm trees.  You will be drawn to it once you see it. These three Islands are easily approachable by motorboats.

5. Explore Surroundings

Fateh Sagar Lake is surrounded by many other gorgeous places. You can stop at Moti Magri, Udaipur Solar Observatory, Stone Dam named Connaught Dam, and a fish aquarium. You can explore all of them.

6. Night Views

Those who like to see lights on the water should come to this area at night. The city’s lights in the lakes and the Aravallis at a distance create a wonderful ambiance. In addition, Karni Mata Mandir can also be seen from here.

Best Season and Time to Visit Lake Fateh Sagar

Monsoon season is the best season to visit this place as the overflowing dam at the lake creates a romantic ambiance. The perspective of the lake is at its best during the monsoon seasons.

Visit the lake in the morning at the time of sunrise or in the evening at sunset. These are the best times to visit the lake.

If you want to know more about the beauty of Udaipur then you must come to this place; after all, words can never quite describe what eyes can see.
